On Monday 18th of May 2026, I participated in Pint of Science Spain as an invited scientist. In this event, scientists explain their research to the broad non-scientific audience with informal talks in bars and pubs accross the world. My presentation, "Is Taylor Swift a marine bacterium?" focused on the unknown similarities between the music superstar and the cyanobacterium Prochlorococcus.
Summary of my talk: "Only international superstars move masses, and that's the case with the singer Taylor Swift and the bacterium Prochlorococcus. This bacterium is far more important to ecosystems than you might think: it's the world's largest producer of oxygen, as well as one of the most abundant organisms in the ocean. But what does a microscopic organism have in common with a world-famous singer? It's undeniable that both have a significant impact on our society, and together we'll explore this curious relationship.".

What microorganisms can we find in nature? How can I differentiate them? Where are they? Can I use an antibiotic against a virus? These and more questions were addressed on the 16th European Researchers' Night (26th and 27th of September 2025). As a member of the Biogeochemistry and Microbial Ecology Department at the National Museum for Natural Sciences (MNCN-CSIC; Madrid, Spain), we conducted a series of games and puzzles to teach kids the diversity and importance of microbial organisms in nature. If you would like to learn more about how the night was organised, you can read it here!

Participation on the book Manual de linternas: Incursiones, excursiones y reflexiones científicas, edited by Marta Magariños Sánchez. In this publication, I had the opportunity to write the chapter 31 (pages 185-188), where I talk and give my opinion about the book "El Error de Descartes", by Antonio Damásio.
